The world is material, matter is in constant motion, and this dynamic physical world is described through spatio-temporal information. In the era of Internet of Everything and artificial intelligence, spatio-temporal data acquisition, processing, information extraction and knowledge mining need to become intelligent. Thus, Prof. Deren Li proposed Spatio-temporal Intelligence. Spatio-temporal Intelligence can automatically answer questions of When, Where, What Object, What Change, Why and What Reaction. Spatio-temporal Intelligence is also integral to service science, intelligently delivering right data, information, and knowledge to right people at right place and right time. This paper will describe how Spatio-temporal Intelligence brings artificial intelligence into the physical world.
Speaker
Prof. Deren Li is a scientist in photogrammetry and remote sensing from Wuhan University, China. He enjoys dual memberships of both Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering. He received doctor degree from University of Stuttgart in 1985 and honorary doctorate from ETH Zürich in 2008. In 2012, International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing awarded him Honorary Member, the number of which ISPRS limits to a maximum of ten at any time as the highest honor. In June 2024, he was awarded the national top sci-tech award for the year 2023. He is the honorary director of academic committee of LIESMARS, director of Collaborative Innovation Center of Geospatial Technology.
